In World Series of Poker 2008 speel je verschillende pokertoernooien die leiden naar een hoofdtoernooi. In die toernooien speel je Texas Hold 'em tegen onbekende spelers en professionals als Johnny Chan, Mike Matusow, Joe Hachem en Phil Hellmuth. Phil Helmuth leert je bovendien de kneepjes van het pokervak in vier verschillende trainingmodi.
