Great game to play with friends that love to struggle together and reach the end of the tunnel together. If you are first time playing this, you are about to spend 3+ hours to learn the game. Please watch a 10min video on YouTube to fasten the process. I sure didn't do that until 3hrs went by already and still haven't started the game yet. Love the anime and the deck-building game.

I'm a fan of Cryptozoic, I'll admit. I own every DC Deck Building Game core set, Crisis set, and Crossover pack. I like to get together with friends, mix-and-match the cards and Heroes and have fun. Each game is a competition of which player can bring their cards together best to totally overwhelm the others and dominate each new Super-Villain. Whether someone's hitting crazy numbers or someone else's hand is getting torn apart by attacks, there's always laughs to be had.

There are no laughs in this game.

The Attack On Titan Deck Building Card Game is a high-intensity, co-operative, and challenging game that uses the same core engine as other Cryptozoic games. You play your cards to generate Power, and you use that Power to "buy" new cards to add to your deck, making your deck a bit better each turn so you can generate more Power for the next, and buy better cards. Alongside Power, Attack On Titan also introduces Moving. There are 5 walls, and on each side of those walls is a space, and you have to generate move to get to those spaces. You can buy cards if you aren't in the same space as that card, and you can't attack Titans unless you're in the same space as that Titan.

Oh right... Titans. So this is a co-operative game where all the players work together against a common enemy, the Titans. The Titans appear outside the walls and Ambush everyone nearby. Your goal as a player is to protect your home within the walls and eliminate the Titans. The Titans goal is the destroy the walls and eradicate mankind. You defeat standard Titans by moving to them and spending Power equal to their costs. If you don't, at the end of each round, they'll attack the walls, and if a wall gets hit twice, it's destroyed, along with everything protected by it. Lose all 5 walls and you lose the game.

But on top of the standard Titans, there are also super-powered Archenemy Titans who cost more to beat, have health that needs to be eroded away before you can even try, and pull out hidden tricks and powers when you finally manage to wage an assault. They also deal double damage to walls, so they can take out a wall with a single hit, but you can protect the walls with your body and incur that damage as a wound. But watch out, gain a Wound while you already have one in play and you die. That's it. You're dead and your friends have to go on without you. It's rough.

This is not a game that is designed to be won. This is a game that can be won. The feeling of dread and overwhelming is akin to what you feel actually watching the anime. You're not some superheroes that are destined to overcome this threat, like the Crisis expansions can often times feel. You're a ragtag group of humans facing up against a superhuman threat, and you'll have to strategize, work together, and make serious sacrifices if you want to succeed, and even then, success is far from guaranteed.

This game is not for people who hate losing. It's not for people who want to relax. It's not for the faint of heart. This game is for people who want a real challenge. There's no rainbows or sunshine. Just gruesome difficulty and strife. It's hard. Real hard.

And we can't get enough. Definitely recommended for fans of Cryptozoic, Attack on Titan, both, or neither. Maybe not for kids, though. Some of the artwork and ideas can haunt your dreams.

The quality of the art was well done on the cards. I liked the 'wall' usage as a twist on a typical deckbuilder. This game is very hard to beat, especially when playing solo. We played with four people and had to make some house rules so that we could at least have some hope of wining. We removed the 'healing' aspect to the bosses. Otherwise they would heal and take away all the damage we did to destroy it. Other than that, the game was fun and interesting.

This is not a quick and easy game - the amount of strategy that goes into winning this game sure gets me and my husband fired up to play it, though! As it says in the description, it's a deck building game, but it's also a cooperative game, which I find unusual. However, it combines my two favorite type of board games, so purchasing this was a no-brainer. The abysmal frustration you get whenever a titan comes out sure helps you feel like a real survey corps soldier, and beating the titans gives you so much satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.

The quality of the cards and other setups (wall, characters, tokens, etc) are top-notch. The only thing I'd wish for is a 3D model of the characters to make it more real, but I also know that might be too much to ask for a $25 game.
All in all, very fun, very intense, super satisfying game. I love it!!!

When I bought this game it looks as though it has been tampered with. All the punch out bits were already pushed out. Cards were scattered everywhere in the box and card packs were opened. I’m incredibly dissatisfied with this. I don’t recommend getting it unless it’s from a store and has some type of seal on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars cards okay but horrid packaging

the cards came okay but the packaging they used was just a plastic bag. So amazon didnt take care in securing it for international shipping. Its not a complete big deal but when you buy something tagged as "brand new", you would expect it to come close to crisp clean new, not well worn sealed. wouldve been nice if they advertised it as such
